Nose- Floral honey; orange oil; deep, rich caramel; fudge; pine resin; spicy black tea; fig jam Palate- Spiced honey; milk chocolate; coconut; light caramel Finish- medium, thin but velvety finish; baking spices; honey; fudge That nose is incredible. Unfortunately, it starts strong with the nose, then the quality drops steadily on the palate, and it completely fails on the finish. For a spirit costing $600, it's thin, lacks complexity, and doesn't have a long finish at all. Honestly, if I had another brand's 18 year old blind next to it, I'm almost certain I would pick that one instead. Disappointing. It really confirms that this brand's non-age-statement offerings are not very good.

About this bottle
Part of Highland Park's Warrior series, Ragnvald is one of six distinct bottlings. Ragnvald, a notable sailor and warrior, held the title of Earl and assisted King Harald. His longships, which he captained on his voyages, are symbolized by the black dragon featured on this expression. The spirit is aged primarily in European sherry casks, with some American oak used, and is bottled at 89.2 proof.
