Had high expectations for High West and was eager to try this. Sampled it neat in a glencairn after letting it sit for 10-15 minutes. The aroma is packed with rye spice, vanilla, orange, and tobacco. The tobacco is subtle, and the overall scent is excellent. The texture is thick, much more so than expected for a 92 proof rye. The taste follows the rye spice, naturally, with orange and tobacco. Some vanilla also comes through. The conclusion is lengthy and matches the palate. I really appreciate the finish. It's pleasant, easygoing, and continues with the preceding flavors. At the very end, a faint hint of mint appears (strange), possibly from the rye spice. Overall, this is a superb beverage. I wouldn't mix it, and adding ice diminishes the flavor profile somewhat. I'd suggest this bottle for those who appreciate ryes.

About this bottle
The 2022 limited edition of Rendezvous Rye became available in June 2022. This bottling is a combination of straight rye whiskeys aged between 4 and 6 years. Similar to the 2021 version, it contains a higher proportion of High West's own rye distillate. This marks the first limited edition release from the brand to feature updated labeling, aligning with the design of their High West Bourbon and High West Double Rye which were refreshed in spring 2022.

I have loved High West's Rendezvous Rye for a long time, so I was eager to sample the 2023 version. The initial taste has considerably less spice and cinnamon compared to earlier batches, though that's not a negative. It's exceptionally smooth. Lingering sips reveal distinct notes of tobacco, vanilla, and citrus. Ultimately, this isn't the best iteration of Rendezvous for me. However, I will certainly purchase an additional bottle or more when I can to give to companions.
