Hibiki Blossom Harmony 2021

Suntory's Hibiki is truly remarkable. Whether it's the legendary 21-year-old or any of their non-age-statement offerings, you're guaranteed to savor any Hibiki you encounter. However, I recently acquired a Hibiki Blossom 2021 expression, a 43% ABV blended whisky originally exclusive to the Japanese market, which naturally commanded an astronomical price. It was finished in Sakura Barrels, derived from cherry blossom trees. The nose is exceptional. Pineapple; a signature Hibiki scent of sawdust intertwined with hay and a metallic note. Pavlova dessert, peach, and tropical fruits with vanilla cream. Peach halves preserved in syrup. Following the initial taste, the bouquet transformed into an amazing fruit punch and cranberries. A floral meadow. It's an incredible aroma, though slightly subdued. Grapefruit. The palate is so delightful it borders on flawless. Tangerine and pineapple. A hint of woodiness. Salt. Astonishingly good. The second sip focused on ethereal sugar atop pineapple. White wine. A sugary water impression was also detected. The finish is salty, evoking a "crazy dips" sensation. Acidity. Ethereal sugar, gooseberries, tart fruits. Beautifully, ethereally long. Ultimately, this is superb. It's almost inconceivable that blended whiskies can reach such heights. Rich in flavor, exquisite notes, everything masterfully constructed, a lingering finish; simply magnificent. My rating is 95 out of 100, and perhaps I was a tad stingy with that score.
