About this bottle

This bottling from the Heaven Hill Heritage Collection showcases one of the brand's six traditional American whiskey mash bills, specifically their wheat whiskey recipe (51% wheat, 37% corn, 12% malted barley). A total of 277 barrels, produced in August and September 2005, were aged for a minimum of 19 years. This release is notable as the oldest wheat whiskey ever released by Heaven Hill. It has been available nationally and internationally on a limited basis since March 2025. (SRP $299.99)

This is a remarkable whiskey! I suggest letting it breathe for at least 20 minutes before tasting. It possesses a simultaneous lightness and richness. Layered might be a better description. Drinks right at its stated proof. I detect sweet floral notes and almost candy-like (but not in a Light Whiskey manner) lingering notes on the finish. This is one to savor. If you approach it seeking a Bourbon, you will be let down. If you approach it with an open mind, I believe you will be pleasantly surprised!

I was pleasantly surprised by this. The nose was a bit muted initially but opened up to some very nice caramel and vanilla oak notes. It has a rich flavor for its proof. The finish is medium. I'm not sure it was worth the price I paid, but I'm glad I bought it.

Aroma: Tobacco, green chili, brown sugar, vanilla. It drinks hot, with a slightly thin finish, mildly astringent, featuring brown sugar and vanilla. After resting, the aroma becomes sweeter, it still drinks hot, and is mildly less astringent.
