The nose presents a blend of sugarcane rum and Islay peat. The Islay cask's influence is less pronounced on the palate than in the aroma, though a faint smoky note lingers in the finish. A sweet rum foundation. Quite satisfactory overall – it met my expectations without surpassing them.

I sampled it neat in Cuba. It had a very strong aroma. My initial impression was “this tastes like scotch”. It has a strong but smooth finish. Abundant smoke, and oak spice. If I can find a bottle at a reasonable price before I depart, I will purchase it.
A very interesting rum. Sweetish aroma of cane spirits with a hint of peat and smoked oak. Particularly good when it has a chance to breathe and warm up. Drinking it undiluted from a cognac glass is pure bliss.
Tastes like a dark rum with smoke. Aging in whisky barrels is a smart move, but the characteristics are subtle and fleeting. Not worth the slight price increase; stick with the 7 year old.
A rum to try, sweet like Havana Club 7 but with a scotch-like flavor and a nice finish.
Rich, sweet with a subtle smoky character.
