About this bottle

A lot more cinnamon intensity and ethanol burn than Fireball whiskey. Less sweet, too. I can see where Fireball would be more popular overall, but I think I slightly prefer Goldschläger. A shame that its heyday as a popular bar shot in the ‘90’s seems to have died. I know the gold flakes are just a marketing ploy, but it’s a good one.

The nose burns, partly from the heat and partly from the cinnamon. Finishes really well with the long cinnamon aftertaste. Unfortunately one-dimensional but executing well on the intended product. Would love to see a barrel-aged version.

As expected, the aroma is all cinnamon. The sweetness isn't noticeable until you taste it. However, the flavor leans a bit towards toothpaste. It has a very full body. I believe I'd stick with Fireball. The gold flakes are a bit of a gimmick, but somewhat neat.

A substantial, plant-based, Swiss/Italian spirit with a spicy beginning, a rich middle, and a golden finish tasting of cinnamon. November 2016 / September 2017 / June 2018

Maci Dial 2.5

A traditional cinnamon liqueur. The gold flakes are a novelty, though attractive. Use sparingly, as too much can overpower other tastes.

Omar Louis 4.3

Overlooked. It has a smooth, viscous texture with just the right touch of cinnamon. Perhaps a little plain.
