Glenturret 10 Year Peat Smoke (2020 Maiden Release)

Nose: Gentle sweet smoke, buttery ash, and untoasted sesame seeds. Taste: Mild sweet smoke, light ash, sweet malt reminiscent of a light lager or pilsner, subtle black pepper, and orange/lemon zest with chocolate. Finish: Lingering mild sweet smoke, lemon, and a gentle black pepper warmth. Score: 82/100 Final Thoughts: Having sampled this previously, I believe my palate was fatigued then, but my assessment remains the same now: a fairly unobjectionable peated malt. The peat is nicely subtle, comparable to the peat level in Glenlivet/Glenfiddich 12. It's not incredibly exciting but lacks any off-putting characteristics. Unusually for Scotch, it lacks dominant fruit notes, offering instead a pure malt essence, like a stronger, purer form of beer. It's very clean and quite bland, but entirely inoffensive. Would I drink it if offered? - Yes Would I specifically order it? - Perhaps Would I buy a bottle? - Perhaps NOTE - All reviews are done without factoring in price.

A new take on a Peated Glenturret. The unique bottle design and large cork are appealing! Smells of peat smoke, bubble gum, peach, the scent of rain on dry earth, spoiled butter, malt, and green apple. Primarily smoky on the palate with a creamy feel, plus chocolate, espresso, and bread. The finish has a long-lasting burnt caramel flavor. Fantastic for someone who loves peat.

2021 release: Moderate peat and delightful honey on the palate. A peppery and medicinal finish. Lacks significant depth, but the honey note makes this an enjoyable dram. Peaty advent calendar 2022 #5 (approximately!)

An appealing savory peat on the nose with some red fruit. Light peat, roasted/toasted notes, pleasant sweetness, accompanied by spice and citrus fruit. A medium-long finish. Very enjoyable!

Smoky for sure but quite overpowering, with a slight fruitiness. Peat blends with smoke, opens up in the glass. Rich.

While not the most exceptional smoked spirit I've encountered, it's certainly drinkable. However, I wouldn't add it to my personal collection.
