About this bottle

This eight-year bottling of Glenrothes, a Speyside distillery in the town of Rothes, is part of The MacPhail's Collection. Glenrothes employs a unique production process, utilizing varied fermentation lengths, both steel and wooden washbacks, and extended distillations with large refractor bulbs to achieve its distinctive spirit. Historically, most of Glenrothes' whisky was destined for blends like Famous Grouse and Chivas Regal, as per an arrangement between its owners, the Edrington Group, and Berry Bros. & Rudd, who bottled Glenrothes single malts. Independent bottlers such as Gordon & MacPhail provided the primary means to taste Glenrothes as a single malt. Despite the recent increase in readily available Glenrothes distillery bottlings, this eight-year expression from Gordon & MacPhail remains a consistent offering within the MacPhail's Collection. Matured in refill sherry and refill bourbon casks, the whisky is presented at 43% ABV.

The aroma is dominated by dried fruit and coconut. The taste is light with a subtle sweetness. The finish is very brief and sweet.

Ursula Cormier 3.0

Smooth and mellow on the nose. Lots of pear and white fruit. Astringent and potent alcohol on the palate.

Peter Weaver 3.3

A good-tasting whiskey with a peppery finish and a hint of honey.
