Extremely difficult to nail down this one, with my impressions shifting significantly across several attempts. Smell: Wow, this is incredibly unusual and stands out. It has the scent of honey graham cereal combined with root beer. Hints of blackberry jam and brown sugar are also detected. There's an odd funkiness, perhaps from the oak. As it airs out, it becomes very bready and develops prominent fruit notes like pineapple, orange, and red apple. It's highly complex, though the oak is very subtle, indicating youth. Taste: The best description is fruity and funky. I detect notes of fruit gum alongside more root beer character. A faint smokiness is present. With each taste, a new and surprising element emerges, making it quite varied. Overall: It's certainly distinctive, but I'm finding it hard to pin down its core character. The aroma is powerful, and the palate is vibrant. The texture is thin with an average mouthfeel. The finish starts with fruitiness and shifts into a peculiar, lingering oaky funk that is hard to place. This funk makes it difficult to determine if I like it. This is a tough one for me. It's highly original, yet it reminds me of cheap bubble gum. It's all sugar and fruit initially, fading after a short while. It drinks lighter than its stated proof. If you can find it for around $50-$60, it might be worth exploring if you're seeking something unconventional. Otherwise, I'd definitely advise against spending the money.

Stopped by the distillery last week after leaving another distillery. Nice little set up. Just met with one person in the shop. They were a little standoffish at first as I knew nothing about this distillery and their bourbons. Got a little info such as this was their best seller so I went with it. It’s not a bad bourbon but nothing really special either. For me it is a little spicy with no outstanding flavors coming through. I will set this bottle aside and give it another taste test in a week or so. If I find anything different I will amend this review.

Excellent! Sweet on the nose, with an earthy element in the flavor. A bit of smoky-char as well. Picked this up on a whiskey trail event. Had a personal tour with the owner. He shared a taste of a premium bottling, and signed all of our bottles, 8 all together!! Still excellent! Less of the char tonight, more sweetness. Warm medium length finish. Repurchased at the distillery.

Quite enjoyable. Potent, yet smooth enough to sip neat. It really develops with a splash of water or some melted ice. I first encountered this bourbon two years ago, but had forgotten its quality. It starts with spice, then reveals sweet citrus before a lingering cinnamon conclusion.

Very flavorful; the initial sip can be intense, but subsequent sips leave an unparalleled caramel and spice sensation. The best barrel-strength bourbon I have ever experienced.

Magnolia Randall 3.0

The quality is above average, but it doesn't justify the price. It has a notable history and the distillery is worth visiting. It features prominent notes of citrus and fresh fruit, a good body, and a smooth finish.
