Glenfiddich Select Cask

Nose: vanilla, honey, malt sweetness, tropical fruits (pears, peaches, and yellow fruits), banana, tutti-frutti, guarana, red apples, a very light floral note, a hint of orange peel, subtle wine aroma (leaning towards fresh red grapes), cherries, a light buttery note, Brazil nut, and low alcohol perception. Taste: malt sweetness, soft, spicy, good bitterness, light vanilla, slightly sour, fruity, with medium oiliness, light woodiness, citrus reminiscent of lemon peel, and something that suggests white wine (despite using ex-red wine casks); less complex on the palate than on the nose, but the whisky remains pleasant. The alcohol is more pronounced in the taste than in the aroma, making the mouth really warm. Finish: medium to short, dominated by bitterness and alcohol warmth. An interesting wine-like aftertaste supported by light woodiness, vanilla, and malt sweetness. Overall impressions: A good whisky with excellent value, possessing the traditional Glenfiddich DNA. Its aromatic characteristics are even more interesting than Glenfiddich 12, though it lacks balance. The alcohol, while not very present in the aroma, is quite noticeable in the taste, amplified by the bitterness, which together slightly unbalance the experience. I recommend tasting it neat or, at most, with a large ice sphere.

Sweeter than the 12 year old, with notes of caramel and molasses. It also has a slight saltiness. Reminds me of a Dalmore, though perhaps that's just due to the branding. The burn is also more noticeable than I recall, but my palate has developed since then. The peat and smoke are subtle, but the burn compensates. There's a mild ashiness, yet it's overshadowed by the sweetness. The finish has subtle vanilla cream and honey. Pungent raisins and dates appear right at the end. This isn't one of the harsher or smokier Scotches; it could be a good starting point for those who prefer more mellow, sweet, malty flavors, but with some warmth nonetheless.

This is another Glenfiddich cask collection, created using a Solera Vat method. It has 40% alcohol by volume and presents a deep gold hue. The aroma is somewhat muted, which detracts from its score. It offers a hint of perfume, elegance, and abundant notes of prunes, oranges, apples, milk chocolate, and almonds. The taste is delightful, featuring caramel, prune skin, ash, and oak elements. It possesses a medium body and concludes with a lengthy finish. Unlike the reserve cask, which leaves your mouth moist, this one causes dryness. Scored 80 out of 100. I would not purchase this particular "cask collection" again, as it eventually becomes somewhat monotonous, much like the reserve cask.

Color: Amber straw with a light golden sheen. Nose: Raisins and dried figs. Palate: Sweet apples and cinnamon transition to spicy notes, with light honey undertones. Finish: Smooth, short, with pepper and oak. This is an easily drinkable scotch. I wouldn't actively search for it, but I wouldn't be displeased to get a bottle as a present.

It's still very much Glenfiddich, with those characteristic malt funk notes, but with much more pronounced Speyside fruit flavors. It's almost like a more premium Monkey Shoulder. Apricot and marmalade blend with the distillery's character, finishing with medium intensity of lingering European cask notes.

AROMA: Quite potent for a Glenfiddich. Slightly salty and zesty. Toffee and sea spray? Perhaps some toasted grain. TASTE: Sweet toffee transforms into cinnamon spice. The finish is minty and peppery. Minty, perhaps? OVERALL: Significantly more robust than anticipated. A welcome surprise.
