Glenfiddich 40 Year is crafted using a continuous remnant vatting method, where specific casks are combined with leftover whisky from prior distillations. First launched in 2000, it contained whiskies from 1925, 1937, 1939, and 1960. Each subsequent release incorporates a small amount of the 1925 vintage whisky. Production is limited to 600 bottles annually, and the alcohol percentage fluctuates each year.

I sampled a dram at the distillery in 2009. It seemed to dissipate quickly at first before a strong series of flavors emerged. I'd be interested to try it again with my more developed palate.
