Fidel Behrens 5.0

My preferred scotch distillery of all time has a wonderful method of keeping fans engaged: they offer us numerous single cask bottlings, typically at cask strength, with some excellent vintages. You can readily identify them as 'the brown Glendronachs'. This particular one is quite special. Bottled at an impressive 53.8% abv, this is a 1995 vintage, 20 years old, exclusively for The German Malt Whisky Community, drawn from a single Pedro Ximenez sherry cask. All the correct elements are present here. On the nose, it presents a quite spectacular display. Grapes, a Crunch chocolate bar, and the immense aroma of BLACKBERRY MARMALADE. It possesses incredible sweet notes of quince, and the scent of a extinguished cigar. Licorice. After a few sips, it offered me dates; Coffee beans and dried oranges. Blackberry, quince, cocoa. It's astonishing. On the palate, this is whisky paradise. Velvety sherry; a spice explosion, chocolate, and red fruits. A beautiful dram. The aftertaste reaches its zenith. Cuban cigars, cinnamon, chocolate. It feels warm. Ginger and macerated fruits. Overall, what more can I say, this is perfection. It's no surprise that Glendronach is my all-time favorite distillery, and this exemplifies why. Elegant, potent, packed with layers of flavors and aromas, this is the true representation of what a top single malt should be. It would be inappropriate for me to deduct any points; who am I to critique this magnificent whisky? My score is 100 out of 100.
