Glendronach "Master Yoda" Officially Bottled for Professional Danish Whisky Retailers

After Obi-Wan Kenobi passed, his spectral form appeared to Luke Skywalker on Hoth as Luke was near death. Kenobi's ghost instructed Luke to travel to the Dagobah system to meet the most powerful Jedi ever known: Master Yoda. Now, The Glendronach, one of my all-time favorite distilleries, produced a special limited whisky for The Professional Danish Whisky Retailers. This 12-year-old dram was aged in selected oloroso casks, and its packaging featured a recognizable color: Lightsaber Green. As you may know, there are 4 unofficial Star Wars-themed expressions from The Glendronach: the 10-year-old Luke Skywalker; the 9-year-old Darth Vader; the 25-year-old Mace Windu, and this 12-year-old Yoda. It was actually whisky enthusiasts who named these expressions, as Glendronach never commented on the free publicity for this very limited collection. It's widely believed that the first, the Luke Skywalker, was never intended to be compared to his Lightsaber; however, after the initial unofficial comparison, the subsequent bottles were unmistakably released with a not-so-subtle intention. Bottled at 46% ABV, powered by the force. And if you don't believe it, that's why you fail. Lol. On the nose, a celestial aroma. Dates, figs, red fruits, and milk powder. Wonderful cinnamon, plums, caramel, and tobacco. Hazelnut with wafer. Almonds and Oloroso sherry. After a few sips, an aroma of quince dessert emerged. It has an old library ambiance. On the palate, it's as excellent as anticipated. Chocolate, hazelnut, red fruits; it's very astringent, grapey, and wine-like. The second sip developed into creamy chocolate with wafer. Truly elegant. The aftertaste is full of "midichlorians"; the force is potent here. Winey, grapey, tobacco. This is a Glendronach with hints of smoke and a sophisticated bitterness. It's simply astounding. Overall, don't hesitate to open this bottle if you ever find it. As Yoda famously said, "Fear is the path to the dark side." To be perfectly clear about how exceptional this whisky is, this single malt is 5 times superior to the standard Glendronach 12, which is much sweeter with strong notes of vanilla cookies. This one is far more winey, grapey, and chocolaty. My rating for this legendary dram is 96 out of 100. May the force be with you.
