The young Anakin Skywalker was too much of a risk to be trained as a Jedi. His fear was too great. He lacked a father, conceived by Midichlorians (possibly through the dark side of the force by Darth Sidious and Darth Plagueis), he trained as a Jedi but was never promoted to Master. After losing his mother to Tusken Raiders, he vowed to learn how to prevent the death of loved ones... a lesson not taught by the Jedi. Darth Vader stands as the most crucial villain in cinematic history and the central figure of the entire Star Wars saga, becoming a cultural icon. If you doubt this, "I find your lack of faith... disturbing". This time, I'm reviewing the 9-year-old Glendronach "Darth Vader," a highly collectible item, a remarkable whisky aged in PX casks and bottled at 48% ABV. This bottle earned its "unofficial" name from its label and box color and was the third (and most expensive) release from the "unofficial Star Wars Glendronach Collection." Only 3000 were produced, exclusively for Danish Whisky retailers. On the nose, the dark side of the force is alluring. Chocolate; cocoa, hazelnut, and very "powdery." It resembles a Crunch chocolate bar. Burnt hay and ginger. After the initial taste, the aroma became even more chocolaty, with notes of dates and sawdust. A perfect score for the aroma. On the palate, it's exceptionally sweet. Like a Crunch Chocolate bar dipped in toffee. Dulce de leche, figs, and moist chocolate cake. Pistachios. The finish was incredibly fruity. Red berries, blackberries, and a hint of saltiness. Dates, figs, and raisins – it can only be described as a dark purple finish. Overall, this was outstanding. I firmly believe one could rule the galaxy with this dram, especially considering it's a 9-year-old single malt. Deeply sherried, this can be considered a masterpiece. Fortunately, I managed to acquire two bottles... because there are always two Sith Lords, a Master and an Apprentice. My rating for the Jedi who will eventually return to the light with an Ewok melody is 96 out of 100. May the Force be with you.
