GlenDronach Cask Strength Batch 9

Nose: Charred caramel or toasted sugar. Hints of pecans and a touch of red fruit. Palate: This one is fiery. A young whiskey aged in PX/Oloroso sherry casks, showing notes of raisins, pepper, and plum. A bit oily. Finish: A medium-length finish. Not particularly complex or different from the initial taste. The sweetness persists. Overall, I enjoy the whisky but feel somewhat let down. I anticipated greater complexity, and it doesn't improve with water either. This is one of six whiskies I obtained during my trip to Scotland. I guess this means I need to go back?

Underaged. Dominated by a strong balsamic taste, with other flavors not well incorporated. The young malted barley is quite noticeable. An unusual misstep from the outstanding distillery. Even the Macallan Classic Cut offers a superior sherry cask strength experience.

It smells like burnt toffee and roasted nuts, with some wood notes. Black pepper comes first, followed by wood and leather. There's a dark chocolate-like note near the end of the long finish. The end is bittersweet and slightly chemical.

Smells unpleasant, tastes bitter and sour.

Tastes like raisins.
