Bennie Turpin 3.3

From a virtual tasting on November 19, 2022, hosted by Good Spirits Co. Glasgow. On the nose: Bright tropical fruit, melon, and toasted nuts. On the palate: Malt, barley, vanilla, with notes of peach, melon, and pear, plus some straw and hay. A subtle hint of beer or ale is present. On the finish: A short finish with citrus, wood shavings, nutty tones, oak, and white pepper. This expression is a vatting of 2 casks, distilled on April 24, 2011, and bottled in 2022. It is one of 753 bottles from recharred ex-Bourbon Hogsheads. Its name honors The Half Moon, a pub once owned by James Eadie in the 1800s. This whisky presents as light, fruity, and youthful, with abundant hay and straw notes alongside some maltiness. The finish brings citrus and oak. It tied for last place among six drams, receiving 0% of the votes for favorite of the night. 18% of attendees indicated they enjoyed it.
