About this bottle

Glen Moray Distillery is located in Elgin, a central Speyside town on the banks of the River Lossie, its primary water source. The distillery, which officially transitioned from a brewery in 1897, matures this 16 year old single malt in bourbon casks, similar to its 12 year old counterpart. It is bottled at 40% ABV.

Easton Muniz 3.0

This is a challenging one to evaluate. Nothing particularly stands out; it exhibits all the typical characteristics of a bourbon cask, such as honey. It's not overly complex or captivating, but everything is in harmony. I'd assign it a 3.5. It's quite affordable here at $60 USD. Considering value for money, it leans towards a 4, but it simply isn't at that level, so regrettably, it drops to a 3.

The nose exhibits more vanilla compared to the 12-year-old. Less spice. Oily texture. The taste has a slight sharpness initially. Smooth and brief finish. Sweet. With the addition of water, it develops a medium finish. Sampled at the Glen Moray Distillery on 7/22/2016.

Ryder Slaughter 2.0

The aroma is full of vanilla. There's a slight bite initially, then it becomes very smooth with a brief to medium-short finish. Adding water extends the finish to medium-long.

Vaughn Dickens 3.5

Decent, but I had higher expectations. A bit sweet, lightly smoky, improves after sitting in the glass for a while. Medium finish, smooth texture...

3.7 Glenmorangie 16. Cardboard aroma. Easy to drink but lacks distinct character. The stimulation is too weak. Even when tasted alongside blended whiskies, its character and impact feel diminished. More disappointing than GlenAllachie Evolution, which I recently tried.

Ali Cardenas 4.3

I enjoyed the slight peat smoked flavor and vanilla, caramel finish. I found it smooth and sipping enjoyable.
