Chester Reynoso 4.5

This Speyside spirit from the Rothes river has a nose of sherry, caramel, and molasses, with a mix of intense sweetness and light saltiness, and a hint of smoke. It's a beautiful aroma without water. Adding water opens it up to green grape and roasted nut notes. The body is full, with the 55.1% ABV noticeable without water, but water smooths it out. The palate is sweet caramel and sherry-forward with a lovely hint of smoke, mirroring the nose. It's delicious and unfolds in layers of almost chewy caramel and nuts. Water mellows it, making it even better. The finish is incredibly long and spicy hot without water. With water, the length is punctuated by caramel, smoke, and nuttiness. Water significantly improves this dram, making it ideal for relaxing in a smoky room with good company. A truly great dram.
