Glen Garioch 1993 21 Year Cask 776 (Adelphi)

I understand that someone went through significant production difficulties with the Model 3, and I wonder if this situation is comparable to the challenges of 'Business Case hell.' It's only been two weeks, and the work hours are already exceeding 60 per week, meaning I'll have been working nearly 20 days straight by next Friday! I definitely needed a whiskey after reaching this first milestone... In any case, I believe I selected this one because I'm a fan of Adelphi. They have the ability to transform even pure ethanol into a fairly decent drink, much like my university days when I obtained a supply of food-grade ethanol from a chemistry lab and created a 20% hazelnut beer (I'm still unsure how or why I did that, as logically it makes no sense)... however, unlike that truly dreadful concoction, this is not too bad. It really highlights the impact of cask finishing. I'd be interested to know how long they finished it for. These producers are coming to NZ Dramfest in a few weeks, and along with That Boutique-y Whisky Company, I'll be heading straight for them. However, despite all that, I find this particular spirit to be slightly over-casked, not particularly complex, and requiring a fair amount of water (which, in my opinion, often indicates imbalance). It's not among their finest achievements. I suspect the original base spirit wasn't exceptional, as the finishing seems layered, overly heavy, artificial, and poorly integrated. Nevertheless, this is because I hold Adelphi to a high standard; by any other comparison, it's a pleasant drink. Let's move past 'Business Case hell' and onto Dramfest!.
