Glen Fohdry Dublaich American Oak Cask Finish

Nose: Dried fruit, light honey vanilla, and an alcohol aroma like perfume. Taste: A smooth sweetness of dried peaches and apricot, with a light bourbon smoke and a warming strength at the end. Finish: A tart, smoky tingle that leaves the mouth full of the flavors and aromas previously tasted, with a long-lasting impression. P.S. It's sweeter when enjoyed with a cigar.

A refined, non-chill filtered single malt from Speyside, Scotland. It was aged for 6 years in new American Oak and then for 6 months in ex-Bourbon barrels. It begins sweetly with notes of vanilla and fruit; a rich middle adds notes of grain, raisins, exotic fruit, and oak; leading to a complex and spicy finish of medium length. The top pick from a three-part Glen Fohdry event (Dublaich, Aiteal an Oir, Fion Frangach). The aroma is slightly rough, much like the others. The palate offers sweet oak and vanilla, with less spice on the finish. Fruit notes are present but indistinct. All three left a gentle warmth at the finish. It resembles a Founders Reserve, though it lacks its smoothness and complexity. (AT)

After a few sips, I couldn't wait to finish it. The tropical fruit notes were pleasant, particularly the banana, but it was excessively sweet. Its thin body didn't help, vanishing from the tongue the moment it was tasted.

Good, but not outstanding. Very little peat and a sharp aroma. It's a suitable introductory scotch for a group tasting event. The finish is floral.

The aroma features toasted honey peanuts. The flavor is reminiscent of vanilla honey peanuts. Adding a bit of water enhances the vanilla and citrus notes in the aroma.
