Glen Elgin 1995 21 Year (Berry Bros. & Rudd)

The aroma is sweet with a bit of vanilla and sweet citrus hard candy. It smells light. The palate has a strong citrus hard candy flavor with some vanilla and pear emerging. It tastes somewhat like a well-aged white wine combined with a touch of Muscat. It's not incredibly complex, but the flavors present are very good. It's light with no discernible alcohol presence despite the ABV. It's very smooth. There's a slight oiliness that gives a hint of lemon zest, but without making it taste young. It possesses a somewhat buttery Chardonnay character. There's a subtle hint of slightly underripe banana, and also some mild woodiness with a bit of vanilla. The complexity is present, but it is understated. This tastes more like a 15-year-old or perhaps an 18-year-old than a 21-year-old, but it's good. It reminds me a little of Springbank 10 and even has that similar touch of smoke. I'm undecided between 16 and 17, but the sweetness of the candy at the start and the occasional subtlety are quite pleasant, so it gets a 17 for now.
