Girvan was established as a grain distillery in 1963 and is also home to Ailsa Bay distillery since 2007. I'm on a bit of a streak with grain spirits; as you explore older independent bottlings, the flavor profile is quite different than I generally expected, not like a flat, lifeless blend. This is an intriguing dram. I really detect cherry, with a mild cough syrup note. It's quite strange, like a milder Balcones or something. Definitely not what I anticipated. 3.5
