Surprisingly, given the low rating, it's a reasonably tasty, slightly floral mezcal. Excessively pricey, but it was a gift so I can't complain too much.

About this bottle
Gem + Bolt originated from two artists from Virginia who were captivated by the allure, heritage, and taste of Oaxaca's mezcal customs. Damiana, a regional herb believed to possess numerous benefits, including "endowing mythic powers in the bedroom," is added to mezcal crafted from espadín agave. The agave is sourced through fair trade, organic, and sustainable practices, with no additives included in the final product.

My first impression is that this is terrible. It's overly sweet with an earthy flavor that is overwhelmed by a floral scent. Is that damiana? It's vegetal and floral.
Smells salty and herbaceous. Tastes sweet and fruity. The finish is smoky. A good blend of salt, sweetness, and smoke.
The smell is herbaceous with smoke, lemon, and floral notes. The taste has a bit of sweetness, raw agave, and flowers. A slight peppery kick.
Pleasant smoky and salty notes on the nose and palate, but a bit too harsh for my preference.
Artificial bacon, akin to bacon bits.
