Yes, this is quite good. It's not that I appreciate it this much just because I'm Dutch. This is precisely the kind of whisky I enjoy, matured in wine or sherry casks. Frysk Hynder carries a high price tag, but it's certainly worth it if you favor wine barrel whisky. Sweet and fruity aroma with red berries, chocolate, and fresh cream. Hints of banoffee. The mouthfeel is light and dry, with an immediate suggestion of the red wine casks. Grapes and cassis, combined with a significant amount of sugar, tamarind, and spices. A pleasant aftertaste with licorice root and a substantial wood presence. It lingers well with a mild burn. It could achieve a 4.5 or 5-star rating if it had a few more dimensions. It's very good, sweet, and mature, but also a bit too one-dimensional. The mouthfeel is so sugary that you can almost perceive the sugar granules on your tongue. This makes it rather uninteresting over time. Nevertheless, Frysk Hynder Red Wine Cask is a very accessible whisky and, in my view, worth the cost! I truly enjoy it!

Sheena Rust 3.5

Made with barley malt, aged for 4 years in red wine casks, served unchilled and unfiltered. From Cask 220A, bottle 373. Nose is pleasantly sweet and smooth. The initial taste is full and warm, with notes of fruit, honey, and nuts. This first taste is a bit brief and doesn't linger long. It has a nice aftertaste. Its amber and gold color complements the flavor well.

It takes some getting used to; definitely tastes like red wine. I always wanted to try this! It's rather sweet and woody, but not very complex. The finish isn't as long as I'd hoped. It might be a bit overpriced. However, it's definitely a good one to try!

The red wine notes are very prominent here. It's a little sweet and fruity. Enjoyable to drink in the Netherlands, near the historical area.

Maudie Trammell 2.5

This was a major letdown considering the cost. I had a bottle aged in red wine casks; the red wine dominated everything. A one-time purchase.

Julian Thurston 3.3

The aroma is exceptionally sweet, with a distinct wine barrel character and a touch of spice.
