Four Roses Limited Edition Single Barrel Bourbon (2013)

A pour from the Drammers Club. Exceptional spirit. Nose: Chocolate-covered strawberries, roses, lavender, vanilla, peaches, raspberries, maple syrup, cookie dough, oranges, apricots, pears, cloves, mint Palate: Cherries, maple syrup, caramel, vanilla, oranges, apricots, cloves, nutmeg, cinnamon, spearmint, walnuts, raspberries Finish: Vanilla, strawberries, peaches, milk chocolate, grass, spearmint, nutmeg, pepper, almonds, hazelnuts

Bottled at a robust 63.2%, fitting for its type, though the intensity is palpable. The aroma signals the high rye content, and the spice persists throughout. There's an almost subtle earthiness I appreciate. A few drops of water significantly lengthened the finish. I was fortunate enough to finish a bottle from barrel 3-4Q at Copper & Oak in New York.

Found at a whiskey lounge, costing $19.00 per glass. It stings initially with a kick, then sweetness emerges with vanilla and caramel undertones. The conclusion is pleasant, leaving a clean, smooth sensation.

This is delightful, but the spice character is different from the previous single barrel I had—it's spicier, more lemony, and a bit woodier.

Experienced this in Seattle with Brent and Courtney last year. Discovered it in Ballard. It was considerably overpriced but quite delightful.

Mellow with a distinct flavor from the rye mash bill. A clean conclusion with a pleasing lingering taste.
