Four Roses Limited Edition Single Barrel Bourbon (2014)

From the Drammers Club. Excellent, though I prefer the 2013. Smell: Vanilla, Red Apples, Cherries, Lavender, Caramel, Cinnamon, Dill, Oranges, Grass, Spearmint, Herbs, Peanuts, Dark Chocolate, Menthol Taste: Vanilla, Milk Chocolate, Herbs, Cherries, Strawberries, Raisins, Caramel, Cloves, Orange Peels, Cinnamon, Grass, Walnuts Aftertaste: Cherries, Dark Chocolate, Salted Caramel, Vanilla, Peaches, Oranges, Herbs, Walnuts, Cashews, Toasted Oak

An adequate sipping Bourbon. Not for special events, but not for daily consumption either. I am not including extensive details on flavor profiles, notes, and finish because, as of now, my Bourbon/Whiskey palate is still quite underdeveloped, with over 50 tracked tastings but fewer than 100 as of 2022. (This does not represent all consumed, only all appreciated outside of shots and mixers).

The aroma seems somewhat chemical, with musty wood notes. It opens up slightly, revealing some brown sugar characteristics. On the palate... much smoother than anticipated given the proof. It almost seems muted. Hints of turpentine and pepper. A pleasant spiciness. A very long finish. It appears as though it will evolve with more time. 9/6/20

Hints of sweet pine, soil, tobacco, and caramel, evoking a cool, sunny morning in the Pacific Northwest with the lingering aroma of a prior night's campfire.

Possesses all the excellent characteristics of the Four Roses single barrel but at a higher proof. Hints of vanilla, nuts, caramel, leather, and spice. Absolutely delicious!

OESV had a creamy texture once diluted (1 ice cube). Good spice and caramel notes.
