From a virtual tasting in January 2021, featuring SMWS black label bottlings. Nose: Sweet cream, tropical fruit, cocoa. Palate: Stronger alcohol presence than the aroma suggested. Citrus, spice, floral, vegetal notes, abundant fruit and blossoms – think banana and apricot, plus pineapple. Finish: A slight numbing sensation lingers. Vegetal and floral notes emerge with grapefruit on the lingering taste. This is a sophisticated and smooth spirit, possessing a classic Speyside character amplified by its strong bourbon influence, softened by age.
