Flor de Caña Añejo Oro 4 Rum

I've been enjoying rum during the summer heat and had the opportunity to get a bottle of Flor de Cana 4yr rum. It's a fantastic, low-cost rum and exceptional for the price. It's somewhat sweet but not overwhelming or syrupy. It mixes very well with everything I've tried and can be sipped if desired. I'm sure better 4-year-old rums exist, but I doubt there are better ones at this price point. I plan to keep this stocked in my home bar and use it frequently; I highly recommend it.

This has been my preferred rum for a long time. I don't see much distinction between this and the 7, making the $10 price gap hard to justify. It's not overly sweet like many rums. Works well mixed or in a rum old-fashioned.

* Nose: Faint sweetness, no alcohol, light vanilla in the background * Palate: Sweet chocolate, some peach. Cinnamon. Light texture. * Finish: Medium

The price is outstanding for an aged rum. This is my go-to mixer for making cuba libres. Very sweet and not enjoyable straight, but it makes an amazing mixer.

Nose of oak and ethanol. Slightly sweet with some oak on the palate. Not much happening. Oak and sugar linger in the finish. Not particularly interesting.

Considering its low price, I'd buy this any day; it's great for mixing. It's a bit of a different rum, more earthy and less sweet.
