I had read many positive opinions before purchasing, and in that context, I am disappointed. It's a pleasant daily drinker with mild smoke and a rubbery aroma, followed by a short finish. However, superior whiskies exist at a comparable price point. Finlaggan is worth considering if purchased at a reduced price.

About this bottle
The Vintage Malt Whisky Company independently bottles Finlaggan Port Finish, though they do not disclose the specific Islay distillery from which they source their whiskies. This single malt, released in 2016 and without an age statement, underwent a finishing period in port casks before being bottled at 46% ABV.

The aroma was peculiar, quite artificial and slightly acetone-like. The palate was more enjoyable, featuring intense smoke and mild port. The aftertaste also had an artificial quality. I'll rate it 3.25. It costs around $60 USD here.
On the nose: peat, medicinal, herbal, very much like a particular Islay scotch. On the palate: sweet port wine, slightly dry, with red fruits and vanilla. Easy to drink. Medium-length finish.
Strong flavor, not smoky at all. Significantly better with a little water, which reveals the smokiness.
It tastes significantly better with a few drops of water.
Peaty, even pleasant, but just ordinary.
