I truly wished to appreciate this. Affordable, cask-strength peated Single Malt from Islay?! Yes, please!! However, this was a bit subdued. Good peat notes, some smoke, and honey sweetness. The malt was somewhat thin, and over time the peat transformed more into ash and less into smoldering moss or earth.

4.1 The peatiness isn't as overwhelming as I anticipated from the aroma. A slight fishiness often found in young spirits. Notes of burnt wood. It's sweet. I appreciated the refined character for a Cask Strength offering. The wood smoke notes remind me somewhat of Lagavulin in my assessment. Unlike the nutty peat of Laphroaig, the smoky cheese of Bowmore, or the smoke-cured bacon of Ardbeg. I recall reading it was similar to a smoky Scotch Cask Strength version, but they are quite different. A subtle nuttiness concludes the experience.
Smoky throughout, but with a pleasant honey sweetness. Very little peat compared to most Islays, but a great find at this price. Comparable to Lagavulin 8.
Good value, smoky, would be mistaken for Ardbeg or Laphroaig in a blind tasting.
Harsh aroma, even diluted it still smells like rubber cement.
Strong, sweet, smoky, and it offers excellent value for the price!
