Fils du Roy New Ireland Whiskey

Surprisingly bourbon-like. A floral aspect is present in both the aroma and aftertaste. The aroma carries some sweetness, resembling brown sugar or butterscotch. It has an oily texture on the palate, with those floral notes reappearing. The taste lingered on my tongue between drinks; it feels substantial but not unpleasantly so. A touch of brine is detectable, which is to be expected from a spirit from the Maritimes. It's smooth and gentle, with no harshness. It's stated as no age statement, but given the distillery is only a decade old, it's likely not very aged. Nonetheless, it's a decent spirit. This is akin to a Honda Civic - straightforward, with some pleasing qualities, but don't expect anything extraordinary beyond its reliability.

A very peculiar tasting whiskey, more akin to a wine-infused moonshine, with a strong alcohol presence and very high cost. I will not purchase it again.
