About this bottle

Filibuster, a Washington, DC-based brand, is known for its cask finishing techniques. This rye whiskey underwent an initial aging in new charred American oak, in line with regulations, followed by a secondary maturation in French oak casks that previously held Chardonnay.

Booker Culp 3.3

From a 2020 advent calendar: Aromatic notes of fruit and rye bread on the nose. The palate presented spicy rye and felt a bit strong. The finish was spicy and warm; the Chardonnay barrel aging did not enhance it, in my view.

Kara Booth 4.0

A distinct rye. Lacks any spice. Exceptionally smooth with an intriguing sweetness derived from its white wine barrel aging...

Camryn Cronin 4.0

The chardonnay cask mellows the sharpness typical of rye. Drinkable, but I don't think I'll get a bottle.

Brandon Sorenson 3.8

For a rye, there's not much bite. Not much going on to drink by itself.

Domingo Hogan 3.5

Smooth and sweet, but it lacks character.

Emilia Bass 2.0

Quite strong
