The aroma is subtle and bubbly, beginning with gentle oak spice and grain notes, then tropical fruits like mango, papaya, and plums, followed by dark chocolate, a hint of minerality, and spices such as candied ginger, star anise, the scent of old books, and robust oak with a mild alcohol sting. The palate has a smooth, rich texture, starting with light oak spice and toasted chestnuts. It then presents delicate floral hints of honeysuckle and orange blossom, progressing to dried fruits like apple chips, dehydrated mango, cooked plantains, and stewed plums. This is followed by dark chocolate, a touch of minerality, and spices of candied ginger, licorice root, the smell of old books, and aged polished oak, all with a slight ethanol burn. The finish is moderately long, featuring raisins coated in dark chocolate, salted mango, orange zest, toffee, espresso, candied ginger, cloves, aged leather, and a full, well-integrated oak character. This 42% ABV spirit is remarkably rich. It opens with a nose reminiscent of morning cereal, exotic fruits, dark chocolate, and distinctive spices, alongside mature but harmonious wood notes. This carries through to the taste with the addition of toasted nuts and floral elements, never becoming overly woody or astringent. The finish is smooth, offering dark chocolate, citrus fruits, espresso, subtle spices, and that wonderful aged oak that isn't harsh or tannic. I would love to keep a bottle of this in my collection, but its price tag exceeding $500 makes it prohibitive. I simply cannot justify that expense when less costly alternatives exist that I prefer. Nevertheless, it was a highly enjoyable and complex whisky, and tasting a sample was worthwhile, though not warranting a full bottle purchase.

Nose: Bananas, toffee, caramelized pineapples, mangoes, Makuna honey, brown sugar, mandarins, cherry cola, rosewater, raspberries, nectarines, coconut custard. Palate/Finish: Caramel, pineapples, bananas, walnuts, cinnamon, peaches, mangoes, passion fruit.
