Nose - Enjoyable subtle oak, vanilla, cooked apple skins, more sweet oak reminiscent of Chardonnay, a touch of citrus, mild sweet honey brioche, trace maraschino cherry. Palate - Mildly sweet filtered apple cider, oaky sweetness akin to Viognier, very subtle creamy influence like port or sherry, ginger spice on the rear palate near the finish. Finish - Gentle bitterness like that of apple juice made from apple skins, a whisper of pomelo/orange peel bitterness and faint oak on the finish. Score - 82/100 Final Thoughts - I was happily surprised by this pour, especially considering it's only 40% ABV. The aroma wasn't as subdued as I anticipated, and a pleasant, intriguing spice complemented a rather thin texture. The initial impression upon smelling and tasting this was a strong resemblance to NAS Monkey Shoulder. Reviewing my previous notes for Monkey Shoulder, they are remarkably similar to this. I'd venture to say this is like a Monkey Shoulder with an age statement and a slightly reduced proof, yet it still delivers comparable flavor intensity at a lower alcohol level.

This is a twelve-year blended malt, meaning it contains no grain whisky, from the well-known Famous Grouse brand, which is owned by the Edrington Group.
