Despite being 120 proof, I preferred this neat over on the rocks. The flavors and mouthfeel at room temperature were more enjoyable, with increased caramel and maple notes. On ice, it became spicier and less sweet. It's quite strong with alcohol; I felt this more when chilled than when neat. I haven't tried it with a little water yet.
