I obtained the bottle from a large retailer for approximately $59 USD, so it was not inexpensive. I sampled it neat on three separate occasions. Unfortunately, neither the aroma nor the taste of this spirit reminds me of whisky at all; it's more akin to a (cheap) pear brandy. Adding water did not improve it. I did not enjoy this spirit whatsoever. It might serve adequately as a base for a mixed drink. For now, it is permanently etched in my memory as an example of a poor whisky. It's certainly not a good representative of Japanese whisky. I will absolutely not taste it neat again.

Smooth and easy to enjoy. A fine combination of contemporary and classic distilling techniques results in a high-quality Japanese whisky.
My whiskey knowledge may be limited, but this has a fishy taste with too much water.
