This bourbon matured for at least 21 years in new, charred American oak before being bottled at 90 proof.

I haven't sampled many of these, but there appears to be considerable variation. Barrel 154 (12.20.90) was excellent; barrel 21 (10.31.90) was an astringent, bitter, watery disappointment.
Nose of potent black Sharpie and pencil shavings. The palate is confusing, bitter, and pungent. It is absolutely inferior to the magnificent 18 year.
Delicious. I'd rate it 91 points, with moderate spice, mild peat, a short finish, and a subtle vanilla undertone.
Excessively oaked, yet enjoyable nonetheless. Compared to the 18-year expression from The Whiskey Fort Collins, considering its price point.
Notes of caramel, leather, oak, and a whisper of berry.
