This inaugural peated single malt from the Faroe Islands is inspired by the raven, a figure central to Norse mythology. The nose presents notes of butterscotch, lemon peel, and digestive biscuits, accompanied by nettles, sea salt, and hints of mineral peat smoke. Citrus fruits, peppermint, and eucalyptus are detected on the palate, followed by zesty, resinous, and mildly peaty flavors that build in intensity. It's quite charismatic for its age. Grapefruit, tannins, and a touch of brine emerge in the lingering finish. This Einar's bottling captures the essence of its remote island home and distinct climate.
