Efe Gold Raki, 45% ABV. The third type of raki tried in Turkey. Tasting neat and with ice. It appears clear in the glass with substantial legs. It pairs well with an ice cube. The aroma is subtly of anise and has a floral sweetness. In the mouth, there is a clean anise flavor, some white sugar, and floral grape. A spicy pepper note emerges towards the finish, but it's not intense or alcohol-heavy. The finish consists of anise, grape must, a hint of white pepper, sweet but brief and clean, ending with a tart grape note. This is the most harmonious and easily sipped of the three I've sampled so far, though not necessarily the most intriguing (Yeni Raki, with its spicier mid-palate, holds that title for me).
