A rich Rhum Ambre from Compagnie Vidzar in Nosy Be, Madagascar, made with locally grown sugarcane. The sugarcane is cultivated alongside ylang-ylang vines, vanilla plants, cloves, citrus, and other exotic flora, which influence the flavors. It's aged for 3 years in former Chivas Brothers Whisky barrels. It features a candied beginning with notes of vanilla, guava, plantains, and citrus zest; a rich and candied middle with notes of vanilla candy, sweet espresso, bananas foster, candied orange peel, and spices; leading to a candied end with hints of tropical fruits, cinnamon, and chocolate. October 2020.

I finally managed to get a bottle of this to take home after trying it at a rum festival. It's very vanilla-forward on both the nose and the palate, but for me, this contributes to a pleasant, distinctive sipping rum that I really like. It has a soft, well-rounded flavor with abundant vanilla, yet it's not excessively sweet. I'm happy to have this product and am considering purchasing the Blanche prestige as well. The bottle design is appealing.
The aroma is subtle, and the taste is mildly sweet with vanilla, no burn at the end but a slight tang. It's quite evident this isn't a mature, refined sipping rum, but it behaves well enough that I can't discourage occasional sipping.
This may be the finest rum I've sampled yet. Absolutely delightful, with strong vanilla notes, rich and full-bodied, simply wonderful!
Excellent with hints of almond liqueur, toffee, and banana.
