Driftless Glen Single Barrel Straight Bourbon Whiskey (SWMBH Bourbon Street)

First pour from a freshly opened bottle. Nose: Features notes of cola and dark chocolate, with subtle hints of cherry and butterscotch. The aroma is gentle and incredibly pleasing. After about 20 minutes of resting, it transforms into an intense chocolate aroma. Palate: Initially, I detect cola and a bit of cherry, but this quickly fades as an intense chocolate flavor engulfs the mouth – similar to biting into warm fudge. The chocolate notes evolve, shifting between dark and milk chocolate as it progresses to a medium and very enjoyable finish. Overall, this is a distinctive bourbon that I appreciate greatly. I've never encountered a bourbon with such a prominent chocolate profile. I plan to treat this as a sort of dessert bourbon, and I'm thrilled with that prospect. It just goes to show you should never overlook a special selection!
