Dover Strait Premium Grain American Gin Extra Dry

The low proof (for a gin) is an immediate concern. The aroma smells like gin but lacks any additional character. I detect juniper and alcohol, but the juniper scent isn't even rich and bold. The palate is somewhat light and watery, yet there's some juniper present. It's not bad, but there's really nothing happening here, unfortunately. There's a bit of peppery spice, but it isn't an overly harsh drink. There's nothing truly objectionable in the flavor, but there's also nothing interesting to appreciate. I won't gag drinking this, but I'd really prefer not to have to. With every sip, the flavor is acceptable. It's never engaging, however. With some water, a slight floral note emerges. It reminds me of Goose Island IPA: there's no denying that it is what it claims to be, but it's the blandest acceptable version of it.
