Release No. 24 Single Cask Pot Stilled Rum 54.5% ABV I am a fan of Privateer, especially the Navy Yard rum. They are all single barrels, and I've never encountered a bad one. I would compare Privateer's Navy Yard rum to Foursquare or the finest aged rums worldwide. Knowing how excellent Privateer rums can be makes this selection from the Distiller's Drawer particularly disappointing. The aroma is quite good, with notes of burnt sugar and pipe tobacco, but on the palate, the dominant note I detect is gasoline. If I concentrate hard, I can discern molasses and funky overripe bananas, but it's really not worth the effort. I'll try it as a mixer, but this is the closest I've come to needing to pour it down the drain in a long time.
