Dingle Single Malt Batch No. 5

Nose: Baked apple, orange blossom water, sultanas, fresh barley, buttered brioche. A subtle hint of vanilla from the bourbon barrels initially gets overshadowed by the very aromatic fruity character, but the vanilla becomes more apparent with time. The barley aroma is so robust it smells more like pot-still than malt whisky. Palate: Sweet, rich barley immediately upon tasting. It's very fruity and full-bodied yet still delicate, reminding me of a light, flaky apple pastry. As it develops, the barley becomes more prominent, and the texture is luxuriously oily and creamy. This again is reminiscent of pure pot-still whiskey. Finish: Medium to Long. Fruity with notes of apricot and pear liqueur. A pleasant sweet woodiness remains. This is a highly enjoyable and easy-drinking single malt. It's not the most complex or intriguing malt I've had, but it is very inviting and alluring. Drunk neat, it's quite oily and leans sweet, but a few drops of water add balance by bringing out a mildly mineral, peppery quality. This is the only Dingle whiskey I've tried, but based on this sample, I would gladly try more. I've only rated it as "Good" here, but the price is reasonable, and I'd recommend giving it a taste if you can find it. "Good": 83/100 (3.5 stars)

Nose: Buttery toffee, Grape-nuts, spiced figs, dried fruit with a banana hint, malty sweetness, and vanilla cake. Palate: Buttery malt and toffee, baking spice, dates, dried fruit with a banana hint, vanilla cake, and apricot. Finish: Medium to long – dried fruit with a banana hint, vanilla cake, and toffee fade with a mineral quality.

Flavor: A peppery and thick sensation on the palate throughout. Flavors of baked carrots, poundcake, and caramel. A distinct bitterness concludes the experience.

I'm a fan of Dingle and everything I've sampled from them. This whiskey offers a pleasant sweetness on the palate and is very smooth. It stands out among other Irish whiskeys. It has a briny taste reminiscent of the sea and salt air from where it aged.

Color artificially enhanced to a golden yellow. Nose: Typically Irish soft, overripe banana. Palate: Youthful but distinctly different from the aroma, with herbal notes. Alcoholic and smooth, but herbal.

A little spicy, sweet, not very smooth.
