About this bottle

Master blender Stephanie MacLeod created Dewar's 25 Year The Signature, a blend of malt and grain whiskies with a minimum age of 25 years. After an initial marrying period in oak casks, the blend was finished in ex-Royal Brackla single malt barrels. This expression succeeds Dewar's Signature and is bottled at 40% ABV, launching in global travel retail in October 2017 before broader market release.

I immediately detect peat, which is interesting as it's not mentioned in other reviews. The peat (smoke) is the dominant note, but not excessively so. It's notable that further aging occurs in casks previously used for Royal Brackla, which makes sense as Royal Brackla is a Dewar's product. The nose, palate, and finish are pleasant; nothing stands out exceptionally, but there are no discernible flaws. A good scotch.

Absolutely delicious. Cost 210GBP for a fifth at London Heathrow duty-free. It might be worth that price occasionally. It's just too expensive for my regular budget at the moment.

Shaina Maher 4.5

The nose has light oak and berry notes. The taste is incredibly smooth and displays beautiful complexity with butter, a hint of smoke, and a pleasant astringency at the end.

Mateo Phipps 4.3

Gentle and intricate simultaneously. Not bold or overpowering, as expected after 25 years in wood. Delicate yet still complex.

Micah Frank 3.5

Aroma: Faint vanilla, honey, and cocoa. Taste: Peppery and sugary fruit notes. Ending: Trace of oak and capsaicin; mouth feels arid.

Judson Cortez 4.0

Really smooth and effortless to drink. Not as good as the 18 cask, but still really great.
