Davidson Reserve Bourbon Single Barrel Golden Bear Store Pick

This bottle was the very first store pick from Golden Bear. There were only two left, and I am very happy I was able to get a bottle. I am one bottle away from having all three store picks they have made since they've opened. Smell: Medicinal cherry, lemongrass, caramel, floral. I love how strong the smell is on this one. The floral notes are my favorite. Adding water brings fig and dark cherry to the smell. Taste: Coats the mouth very well. I get a hint of chocolate, cranberries, almonds, and cherry juice. Adding water softens it and brings out the citrus flavors. Finish: Long and lingers, has heat and is extremely enjoyable whiskey. Water cools down the burn from the proof but still has a nice long finish. Personally, I like this over a sherry-finished Scotch (and I love Scotch). This bottle definitely surprised me. Also, it's super cool that it was bottled on my birthday.
