Space, the ultimate frontier, serves as the muse for a legendary spirit. This one is only glimpsed in publications and images from the affluent. We're obviously discussing the esteemed Dalmore Constellation. The Dalmore Constellation comprises 21 distinct spirits, spanning vintages from 1964 to 1992. The entire collection initially retailed for a mere 335,000 dollars. I'd heard whispers of exceptionally rare bottles at the Balmoral Hotel in Edinburgh. Upon arrival, I spotted it – a 1990 Dalmore Constellation. I'd never even seen one, let alone held it. Its substantial weight immediately brought to mind a "Rolex" effect. Well, I poured a measure, which was a bit (a lot) beyond my means, but I couldn't pass up this chance. Presented at a formidable 56.5% ABV, this spirit carries a 21-year age statement. The aroma was flawless. A stunning citrus note. Ethereal sugar, red berries, nutmeg, lime. It presented like 17,000 distinct layers of scent. Chocolate, ginger, passionfruit, melon. Astonishingly good. Pavlova dessert. The aroma is so vast, I'd love to wear it as a fragrance. On the palate, it was unparalleled. Intense citrus, a sonic wave of spice, red fruits. This is a potent, intensely fruity Dalmore. Lemon, wood shavings, and a full tangerine character. The second taste delivered a sugar rush; it truly is out of this world, living up to its name. Tangerine, white chocolate, and watermelon. The finish is equally superb. Wood shavings, ginger so potent it clears your sinuses. A sulfuric and slightly metallic quality, with a remarkable citrus acidity. It makes your mouth water. Faint traces of salt and citrus. In summary, if I could award this dram a thousand points, I would. It was tied for my favorite spirit from my 2023 Scotland journey, alongside Talisker 27yo Elements. An incredibly cosmic spirit, this is the finest Dalmore "nectar" I have ever encountered. A perfect score, 100/100. Cheers!
