Nose: Gas, brine, green apple, burnt sugar, aerosol, vegetation, dairy. Palate: Clover honey, orchard fruit, citrus peel, aged wood, pecans. A balance of sweet and salty. Mild smoke. Finish: Moderate duration. Capsicum and sea salt, timber, sugary, hints of apple and honey. Faint smoke persists. Clearly a Highland Park. It exhibits all the expected traits, but lacks any cask character. The 43% ABV provides heightened focus and impact. Harmonious, with fruit and an oily mouthfeel. Superb! Placed tied for last among the six samples, receiving zero percent of the final vote for best of the night. Eighty percent of attendees reported enjoying the dram.
