It's December 28th, and I'm committed to trying a new rye whiskey daily for the rest of the month. While my proficiency with rye isn't as lacking as my Scotch skills were last year, I'm always open to recommendations for good rye whiskies. With established objectives, there are certain key bottles I could use assistance locating. Please share your preferred, easily accessible rye. Objectives (abbreviated): 5 ryes. 4.5 stars. Readily available. (6/5, WT101, Whistlepig 10, Whistlepig 12, Old Riff, VOSN Summer Rye, Willett 4yr) I aim to distinguish between any bourbon and any rye. This is my first attempt. One of these must be an Empire Rye. (1/1, Hudson) I'm looking for a 'wtf' rye. I want the one that tastes like killing a fictional character for no reason at all. >>~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~

An easily drinkable spirit, with no sting (at 81.2 proof). Mild notes of vanilla and marshmallow on the aroma. A touch of caramel on the tongue and some rye spice in the aftertaste.
A superb whiskey for what it costs. It works well in an Old Fashioned due to a hint of spice, but it's also smooth enough for sipping.
