It took me a while to decide how to rate this. I was curious about an unaged rye and bought a bottle for $25. The nose is very herbal, like hay or straw, somewhat reminiscent of a barn. This carries over into the taste, with a brief finish of heat and alcohol. In my opinion, it's not an enjoyable sipper; it's intentionally different. Trying it might improve your understanding of other rye whiskeys and aging processes. I'm looking for cocktail ideas. If you have any, please share. Otherwise, it might be useful for home blending/aging experiments. While I'm interested in trying other spirits from this producer, I won't buy this again.
